Membership
The only form of membership available to newcomers to the Union is Life Membership. The subscription is determined from year to year by the Committee and at present stands at R2500.
Until 1994, there was a category of ‘Annual Membership’, with an annual subscription payable. Such members have been encouraged to convert to Life Membership, which the majority have now done. For doing this, the reduced Life Membership subscription
R 2000 for the conversion. This subscription also applies to those ODs who did not become Life Members on leaving school and would like to become Life Members now. To make arrangements for payment, please contact

Benefits of Life Membership
- Receiving the College/OD magazine quarterly for life, wherever they may be, as long as the
OD Office is kept informed of changes of address.
- The right to wear OD colours.
- The right to attend OD social functions, which are organized by branches in many parts of the world.
- The right to attend Class Reunions, held, on average, every ten years.
- The right to play in OD sports teams against the school or in other fixtures, such as golf or cricket
days held in some of the branches.
- The opportunity to meet with other ODs throughout the world and to maintain contact, through the
magazine, email or the OD Website, with both contemporaries and the school.
